Personal development, health and physical education

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6.

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

PSSA

MPPS are involved in Ridges PSSA, which means that our students represent us at local sporting competitions against schools in the Ponds network. We are participating in both Summer and Winter weekly sporting competitions and students are allowed to trial at the start of each season for the following sports:

  • Summer: Mixed Oztag, Boys cricket.
  • WInter: Girls Netball, Boys Soccer.

MPPS also participates in Ridges competitions for Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country, students must make particular qualifying times at school to be able to represent MPPS at these zone events.

Marsden Park Public School also participate in a range of sporting opportunities such as Sports in Schools, specialised clinics and fundraising events involving sport and moving our bodies, such as Jump Rope for Heart.
